Labor day weekend coincided with a pumping south swell and beautiful conditions, and the resulting crowd down at Lowers was nothing short of chaos.

Can you imagine trying to warm up for a world title showdown like this?

In the edits above and below, the Top 5 men and women mix it up with...well, every surfer in Southern California.

And it looks frustrating as hell.

Sure, Griffin Colapinto and (to an extent) Filipe Toledo have free reign of the lineup — as they should. But, from the looks of it, the rest of the Top 10 was stuck battling it out for insiders and scraps, which is just insane.

Yes, surfing is a free sport and nobody owns the ocean, but maybe give an inch to the surfers trying to warm up for the biggest day of their lives?

Just a thought, but maybe in the future the WSL could use one of their permitted days to allow these surfers some space for practice.

Either way, these clips capture both the chaos of surfing Labor Day Lowers, as well as give us a glimpse at who's been ripping the hardest in the lead up to the event, which should run this weekend in solid hurricane swell.

Love or hate the format, it's gonna be a very entertaining day.
