How to Watch the Obamas on Netflix Now
Earlier this week, Barack and Michelle Obama landed a multi-year production deal with Netflix, and eager fans have been buzzing about what kind of content they'll produce ever since. The streaming service confirmed the couple has the option to create basically whatever they want, from scripted and unscripted series to feature films and documentaries.
While we won't get a look at their programs until 2019 at the earliest, there are still a plethora of Obama-focused TV shows and movies that are available to stream on Netflix right now. Here's what's out there.
1) Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (2015)
In the Season 8 premiere, President Obama joins Bourdain in Hanoi, Vietnam. The two talk about their world travels while slurping a $6 bowl of bun cha, a Vietnamese dish of grilled pork over a plate of white rice noodle and herbs. The episode was so well-received, the table where the president sat is now encased in glass.
2) Barry (2016)
This film focuses on the future president's early years as a college student at Columbia University in the early 1980s. The movie had its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, and was one of two films released around that time that centered on a young Obama. 3) Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (2015)
Although not a comedian, President Obama was featured on the Season 2 premiere of the Netflix original, cracking jokes with Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld later told The Hollywood Reporter that during filming of the episode, Obama said that a secret of The White House is that you have to call someone to change the thermostat–no fiddling with it yourself.
4) My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman (2018)
In President Obama's first talk-show appearance post-presidency, he spoke with David Letterman about life after The White House, his children, and his marriage. Letterman discussed a funny comment Malia made to him when they first met, and Barack confirmed that Malia is the jokester of the family. "That's a pretty good line," he said. "She's a riot. She is funny."
5) Parks and Recreation (2014)
Michelle Obama guest-starred as herself on the show's hour-long Season 6 finale, where she helped to convince Amy Poehler's Leslie to move to Chicago with an inspirational pep talk. No surprise that she's good at those, since she's very great with thank you letters, too.

6) Southside With You (2016)
The film Southside With You takes a romantic look at Barack and Michelle's first date in Chicago in 1989. The first kiss between the two, which is portrayed in the film, has been marked with a historical plaque at the Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlor at the Dorchester and East 53rd Street intersection in Chicago.
