Watch Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry with a Very Special, Very Prankish Shetland Pony

If you love North Carolina's famous wild horses, we have another equine story that will perhaps also tickle your jodhpurs: The royal family has a very special Shetland pony, and it's got a, well, wild streak —Tar Heel State resident or not

As Buckingham Palace's official royal family Twitter handle shared on January 17th, "The tradition of having a Shetland pony continued when the antecedent Regiment’s amalgamated in 2006 - the current pony took over the role following the retirement of the much loved Cruachan III."

On visits to Scotland, the Queen has spent plenty of quality time with the Cruachan miniature horse, like the picture of her below posing with Cruachan IV. Things don't always go well with these adorable ponies, however. When Queen Elizabeth arrived at Balmoral Castle in Scotland for her 2018 summer vacation Cruachan IV, the pony relieved himself in her Majesty's presence and Lilibet appeared to hold her nose to cut off the stench. The same pony also tried to eat a bouquet of flowers from the Queen on her visit to Stirling Castle in 2017.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II isn't the only royal family member who has witnessed these ponies misbehaving tendencies. When Prince Harry and his now wife Meghan Markle took a trip to Sctoland together in 2018, Cruachan IV tried to bite Harry's hand as he gave the mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland a warm hello. Note to self: If we find ourselves in these playful ponies' presence, wear gloves and ditch the flowers.
