Wednesday’s Child: Meet Aaron, a loving and open-hearted 11-year-old who has overcome much
Hundreds of kids are waiting in foster care hoping to be adopted. We at KARK are hoping to help these kids find loving homes through our Wednesday’s Child Series.
This week’s Wednesday’s Child has lived through things no child should ever have to, overcoming barriers and on the road to recovery. His hope is to find a family who will help heal his scars and show him the true meaning of love.
Aaron is an 11-year-old who is always on the move, whether on the playground or the court.
“When I grow up, I want to be a basketball player,” Aaron said.
However, if he could have one wish, it would be to stay put.
“I can’t wait to be adopted,” Aaron said.

Aaron was placed in the foster care system a year and a half ago and has dealt with trauma no child should ever have to face, including physical abuse, which forced him to relearn how to walk.
“He has already experienced a lot of challenges and things in his young life and has overcome a tremendous amount of challenges,” Adoption Specialist Ladonna Rushing said.

Despite it all, his heart is open and ready to love.
“Aaron will greet you with a hug and a smile every time he sees you,” Rushing said. “It’s just amazing to me that he can still give such affection and love after all that he has been through.”
Rushing said the right family for Aaron is patient and willing to work through his traumas.
“Anytime I go to visit him the first thing he wants to know is, ‘Ms. Ladonna, have you found me a family yet?’” Rushing said.

In the meantime, Aaron holds on to hope that one day, the answer will be, “yes.”
“I just want them to love on me,” Aaron said. “I just want to get adopted.”
