Wednesday's Fair fun: Dollar prices, chance to explore higher ed options
Sep. 10—For those who haven't yet been to Expo New Mexico for the State Fair, Wednesday is Dollar Day and the cheapest way to get in. For just a $1 admission (cash only), it's a start to enjoying all the fun the fair has to offer.
In addition to the dollar entry fee, the Reithoffer Midway, site of games and rides, is offering $1 midway rides, with a minimum purchase of 10 rides. Ride wristbands will not be a part of the $1 day deal.
Admission typically can be anywhere from $10 to $20, with ride wristbands going for $30 to $40, depending on the day.
"The New Mexico State Fair takes pride in our ability to offer these incredible discounts so that all New Mexico families can experience our extraordinary event. We are pleased to provide exceptional arts, culture and entertainment opportunities that are such a great value for the money," said State Fair General Manager Dan Mourning.
Wednesday is also Pathway to College & Career Day, which is dedicated to giving New Mexican students the opportunity to explore various higher education options across the state. Representatives from 24 colleges and universities will be in attendance as well as 19 other educational organizations.
The New Mexico Department of Education expects 8,000 to visit the Career Day event. Students will have the chance to learn about financial aid opportunities, including the Lottery and Opportunity scholarships, with the help of college representatives and other students.
"Every year, we are thrilled to take part in this excellent opportunity to spread the good word about the incredible higher education opportunities in our state," said Higher Education Department Secretary Stephanie M. Rodriguez. "Tuition-free college will continue to make fulfilling careers right here in New Mexico more achievable than ever before."
