Were Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Really Gossiping About Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet?

As the saying goes, there are three sides to every story: one of each party involved, in addition to the actual truth.

But in Hollywood, it's sometimes hard to decipher what's real from faux, and once something is caught on camera, hearsay tends to spread like wildfire!

One example of this is a recent moment from the 81st Golden Globes, held at the famed Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday evening, Jan. 7, when a girl chat amongst besties Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift quickly began to go viral on social media.

As was previously reported, the internet had run amuck with theories about what the group of three—inclusive of Keleigh Sperry, who was sitting next to the "Lavender Haze" singer and leaned in to get the scoop from Gomez—was chatting about, alluding to the fact that the former Disney Channel star was disgruntled over being denied a photo with her former A Rainy Day in New York costar, Timothée Chalamet, who was in attendance with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

Nothing officially has been addressed by any party to confirm such is true, however, the discord between the Kardashian/Jenner family and Swift/Gomez runs deep (enter: Kanye West 2009 VMAs drama and previous Justin Bieber relationship history).

Viewers of the awards show desperately wanted to know what the juicy gossip was about, even calling for a professional lip-reader to help decipher what the situation was—because, obviously, let the world tell it, personal conversations (even if they are discussed in public settings) are meant to be common knowledge, no?

Following the Golden Globes though, a source who spoke with People attempted to dispel the online banter, despite Sperry being caught on video mouthing the word "Timothée." The source alleged that Gomez "was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie," continuing that she "never even saw or spoke to them" at the event.

Similarly, E! News also reported in an article published on Monday, Jan. 8, that a source said "It's not true she went up to them and asked for a photo," doubling down on the claim that Selena "never saw them."
