'Wheel of Fortune's Pat Sajak Stunned by Contestant's 'Incredible' Solve

Pat Sajak

Even in his 40+ years of hosting Wheel of Fortune, Pat Sajak still gets some surprises now and then.

The longtime game show host found himself in shock during a new WoF episode on Thursday, Oct. 12, where one contestant solved the Bonus Round puzzle after only being given just a few letters.

Debra Molle from China Spring, Texas, earned $20,000 during Thursday's game, before going onto the Bonus Round where she was given a puzzle in the category "Living Thing."

While looking at the puzzle board, which which read "_ L _ _ _ _ _ R _ _ _ _ T," Molle surprised everyone by choosing some unconventional additional letters: "F, M, J, and O."

"I believe that’s the first FMJO combo we’ve had on the show in 72 years," Sajak, 76, quipped, per TV Insider.

But clearly, Molle's technique worked out well for her, as she ended up with the puzzle "FL _ FF _ R _ _ _ _ T," which she was able to quickly identify as "Fluffy Rabbit."

"That's it, yeah!" Sajak exclaimed excitedly while revealing that Molle's correct guess won her an extra $40,000, bringing her to a total of $60,250 for the day.

"Just wow!" one fan said in response to the impressive moment, adding, "That was incredible. It was almost impossible to know the answer from three letters on the board."

"Debra a hippity hoppity game, awesome!!" another fan wrote in the comments of a YouTube video shared to the WoF page.

"Way to go, Debra!" someone else chimed in, as a third noted, "players are getting wise to the writers" by calling unique letter combos in the Bonus Rounds.
