Where Your Favorite 'Dance Moms' Stars Are Now
Dance Moms is now in its eighth season, and a lot has happened to the show—and its stars—along the way. Plenty of dancers have cycled through the Abby Lee Dance Company, and several have gone on to have impressive careers. From scary health battles to viral music videos, here's what your favorite dancers, teachers, and, of course, moms are up to today.
Abby quickly rose to infamy for her no-nonsense way of dealing with her dancers. Her abrasive attitude made her the dance teacher people loved to hate.
Abby has been through a lot since leaving the show in 2017. She went to jail for felony bankruptcy fraud and was later diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She went through 10 rounds of chemotherapy and is now doing physical therapy to walk again after announcing that she's cancer-free in May 2019. However, she still returned to the show for season 8, Dance Moms: Resurrection, which premiered in June 2019.
Maddie was a breakout start on Dance Moms, which she appeared on from 2011 to 2016. During that time, she won several titles at regional, state, and national dance competitions.
Maddie took her Dance Moms stardom and ran with it. She's been on Dancing with the Stars and has appeared in several of Sia's music videos. She'll also appear in Sia's movie, Music, as well as West Side Story, both in 2020.
Like her big sister, Maddie, Mackenzie appeared on Dance Moms for six seasons. She was a star dancer with the Abby Lee Dance Company.
Mackenzie started a music career with her 2014 album, Mack Z, and released a followup called Phases in 2018. She's been on several tours and also modeled for big names like Ralph Lauren. Mackenzie was also a runner-up on the first season of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.
Melissa, Maddie and Mackenzie Zeigler's mom, was often thought of as a second mom to all the girls at ALDC.
Melissa is now busy supporting her daughters' careers. She's also active on Instagram and has 3.5 million followers.
Chloe was another breakout star on Dance Moms, but she left in 2014 after her mom had friction with Abby. In her final episode, Chloe was the highest scoring ALDC soloist at Nationals.
Chloe has become a social media influencer, with more than 6 million followers on Instagram, and a popular YouTube channel. She also wrote a book called Girl on Pointe: Chloe's Guide to Taking On The World, and started classes at Pepperdine University in the fall of 2019.
Christi, a.k.a. Chloe's mom, was known for constantly fighting with Abby over the dance teacher's favoritism of Maddie Zeigler. The Lukasiaks finally left the show after Abby called Chloe "washed up."
Christi now has a YouTube channel, where she covers a wide range of topics. She's also active on Instagram, where she has 2.1 million followers.
Nia was one of the original cast members of the show and was constantly overlooked by Abby. She left the ALDC during season 7 to form The Irreplaceables, a group of dancers who formerly made up the ALDC elite team.
Nia's been working hard since leaving the show. She's starred on The Bold And The Beautiful since 2018 and has a few film roles coming up. She also released a single called "Slay" back in 2018. Nia started college at UCLA in the fall of 2019.
Nia's mom, Holly, was known for being the calm and rational mom during her daughter's turn on the show, even though Nia was not favored by Abby. She also earned her Ph.D. in education from the University of Pennsylvania and wrote a book called Moments Of Clarity while on the show.
The mom of three keeps busy supporting her kids' education and careers, and also is active on Instagram, with 2 million followers. Holly also made a cameo appearance on The Bold And The Beautiful in 2018 with her daughter.
Gianna, or "Gia" as she's known on the show, started out as a dancer at ALDC at age six, and then became a teacher, choreographer, and major persona on the show.
Gia returned to the show in 2019 for Dance Moms: Resurrection. She lives in L.A. and continues to choreograph and judge dance competitions. She's active on Instagram with over 1 million followers.
Elliana first joined Dance Moms as a member of the ALDC mini team in season 6. She joined the elite team in season 7 and was there until the elite team disbanded.
Elliana is still dancing and has started acting. She starred in the off-Broadway musical Dance Divas Nutcracker in 2017, and has danced on JoJo Siwa's tour. She competed on Dancing With The Stars Juniors, and also returned to Dance Moms in season eight to join Abby's new dance company.
Brooke was one of Abby's original favorites, but Brooke started to lose interest in dance as she got older—and Abby noticed. Brooke and her sister, Paige, left the show in the middle of season 4.
Paige's time on the show wasn't without drama. Abby once threw a chair at her, and Paige eventually sued her former teacher for emotional distress, saying that she had "panic attacks and extreme anxiety" while at ALDC. (The suit was dismissed.)
Paige is now a social media influencer, with 3.2 million followers on Instagram, and has done some modeling. She plans to attend West Virginia University in fall 2019.
Kelly was a member of the ALDC pre-Dance Moms, but quit at 14 to become a cheerleader. She and her daughters, Brooke and Paige, left the show in season 4 after Kelly had a physical fight with Abby.
Kelly sued Abby after leaving the show for defamation, after Abby allegedly implied that Kelly was an unfit mother and an alcoholic. The suit was later dismissed. Kelly is active on Instagram and regularly posts about her daughters.
Kendall originally joined ALDC as a replacement for Vivi-Anne Stein in season 2. She left the company at one point, only to return again. Kendall eventually left for good in season 7 to join The Irreplaceables.
Kendall has been busy acting and starred in Rapunzel: A Princess Frozen in Time in 2019. She's also a social media influencer with 7.1 million followers on Instagram.
Jill, a.k.a. Kendall's mom, was known early on for fighting with the other moms, but eventually became more accepted by the group. She also had an uncanny ability to say things she probably shouldn't have.
After leaving the show, Jill co-starred in The Irreplaceables: Dance Movie, which followed several of The Irreplaceables and their moms while they toured Peru. She now regularly posts about her daughters on Instagram.
JoJo first surfaced as a contestant on Abby Lee's Dance Competition, but didn't officially join Dance Moms until season 5. She was a permanent member of the cast until season 6, when she left after receiving a consumer deal from Nickelodeon.
JoJo's been busy since leaving the show. She's appeared in several shows for Nickelodeon and has a popular singing career. She also has a makeup line, a hit YouTube channel, and has written several books, including JoJo & Bow Bow Take The Stage.
JoJo's mom, a former dance teacher and studio owner, didn't earn fans amongst the other dance moms, who thought she and her daughter were too much.
Jessalynn is now busy supporting her daughter's flourishing career. She regularly shares behind-the-scenes photos and videos of JoJo with her 1.6 million Instagram followers.
Kailani was one of Abby's favorites thanks to her flexibility and technique. She officially joined the show in season 4, but left due to family obligations. She eventually returned for season 5, before leaving to join The Irreplaceables.
Kalani has been busy acting lately. She currently stars as Sabrina in the TV series Dirt. She's also done some modeling, and appeared in a campaign for PromGirl.
Kalani's mom left the show during season 4 with her daughter, saying on Twitter at the time that they needed to spend more time with family. But they both returned in season 5.
Kira now does some fashion styling for liketoknow.it and regularly posts about her family and fitness on her popular Instagram page.
Brynn was first featured in season 5 as a guest dancer. She came back in season 6 and was finally made a permanent member of the ALDC elite team later that season. She stayed with the show until the elite team broke up.
Brynn is still dancing and has also started an acting career. She's also a social media influencer with 2.8 million Instagram followers.
Asia joined the ALDC elite team in the third season and stayed on for several episodes before she decided she didn't want to be a competitive dancer anymore.
Asia landed a Lifetime reality show called Raising Asia and has had several acting roles, including playing Sydney Simpson in American Crime Story and Jasmine in Grey’s Anatomy.
Cheryl joined Dance Moms in season 7 as the coach for The Irreplaceables and made it clear that she didn't want the competitors to lose their love of dance.
Cheryl stepped out of the spotlight for a little while after Dance Moms was canceled, but is now back on Dancing With The Stars as a pro. She also recently married actor Matthew Lawrence, who she met through DWTS.
