'The White Lotus' Season 3: All the Rumored Stars

Who has been tapped to join Mike White's third installment of the hit HBO show—and who is all but begging to be cast?

The third season of The White Lotus was announced before the second season even wrapped, and fans have been speculating ever since about who creator Mike White will tap to star in his next installment. HBO has yet to announce any official casting news, but there are plenty of rumors going around to tide us over.

Below, is a list of all the stars who could, in theory, join the series; plus, all those who desperately want to.

Reddit user r/shawnmd posted a photo of Devito and White having dinner in West Hollywood, sending the Internet into overdrive. Is it possible the two famous men were merely sharing a meal? Sure! But Devito's casting would make sense: With Jennifer Coolidge no longer in the mix (her character, Tanya, was killed off in Season 2), White needs to cast a beloved, eccentric star for his third installment. Could that star be Devito?

Connie Britton

Britton played Season 1's tone-deaf, workaholic CEO Nicole Mossbacher, and there's good reason to believe she might return for another round: She told Deadline last year that White wanted her to reprise her role.

“[He] wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character," she said. "Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn’t work in the second season and we’re hoping to [do] that in the third season. I would love to see a spinoff on every character in that show.”

Since then, fans have posited that Nicole could be related to Dom's estranged wife, Abby, voiced by Laura Dern in Season 2. What does Britton make of that theory? “Oooh, I’ve never heard that before,” she told Variety at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.

Regardless, she says she'd return to the show without question. “Of course I would,” she told Variety. “Mike is someone I’d admired for a long time in my career, and I was fortunate enough to work with him on Beatrice at Dinner, which he wrote. I think he’s a genius, but also a kind genius. I have loved collaborating with him and I’ll say yes to him ’til the end of time.”

Jon Gries

Jon Gries appeared in the first two seasons of the show as Tanya's lover then husband, Greg. Given that his conspiracy to murder Tanya led to her accidental death at the end of Season 2, could it be that he'll return for a third round for his comeuppance?

White hasn't exactly ruled out the possibility. In HBO's post-finale featurette, he said:

"I think as far as like, what happens to Greg and the conspiracy of Tanya’s death, it’s possible that I think Portia"—Tanya's assistant—"is scared enough to just leave it alone. But the fact that all of those guys die on the boat, it feels like there’s gotta be somebody who’s gonna track it back down to Greg."

If White is going to bring back Jon Gries for a who-killed-Tanya storyline, he has to bring back Haley Lu Richardson, who played Tanya's aimless assistant, right?

Laura Dern

Dern played Dom's estranged wife, Abby, via phone in Season 2. But why bring a mega-star like Dern into the fold if you're only going to use her as a voice actress? Is it possible that White, who worked with Dern in his prematurely canceled HBO show Enlightened, has plans to bring the actress in front of the camera for Season 3? One can hope.

Speaking with E! News, The Morning Show star said she was "obsessed" with The White Lotus. When the outlet suggested that she might join the cast as Tanya's sister sent to avenge the late character's death, the Friends alum said she was game.

"Did you hear it, Mike White?" she said. "I want Jennifer Coolidge. I love her."

When asked by Variety if she would want to star in White's hit show, the Hocus Pocus actress said, "Oh, please! Of course. In a New York minute."

"Mike White pokes fun at the worst kind of people, the truly entitled and rich people behaving badly," she added. "Everybody likes to see them get their comeuppance. I really enjoy that. It's the great saga of the haves and the have-nots, which is eternal."

Pamela Anderson

Fans have expressed interest in seeing the Love, Pamela author join the cast of The White Lotus as Tanya's sister (so many theories about who should play Tanya's sister!). When asked about the swell of enthusiasm on Drew Barrymore's talk show, Anderson said she'd heard about it—but she hadn't actually seen the show.

"I can't get it in Canada because my HBO app doesn't work because my Apple ID is American," she said. (HBO: Fix this!) "I want to watch it … I heard everyone loves it and it's crazy. I'm up for anything."

Jamie Lee Curtis

At the SAG Awards in February 2023, The White Lotus alum Haley Lu Richardson told Jamie Lee Curtis that she was her top pick for who should star in the show's third season. "Do you want to do it?" Richardson asked.

"Yes! I don't even know what it is, but I will do it," Curtis replied. It's hard to believe Curtis hadn't heard a thing about The White Lotus all awards season, but that's neither here nor there! "...Where does it shoot?" the Everything Everywhere All At Once actress asked.

"In beautiful places around the world at five-star resorts,"  Richardson explained.

At which point, Curtis concluded: "Wow, you know what? Twitter it or whatever you do!"
