‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Won’t Be Released Until 2025, HBO Says
It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for the next White Lotus to bloom.
The third season of HBO’s hit anthology series won’t be released until 2025 due to the Hollywood labor disputes. HBO and Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys revealed the extent to which the writers’ and actors’ strikes had impacted the show at a press event in New York on Thursday, as reported by Variety.

“White Lotus Season 3 probably would have been in play for 2024, it’s 2025,” Bloys told reporters.
Written and directed by Mike White, The White Lotus has garnered critical acclaim for its scathing social satire. The show has received multiple Emmy awards and a Golden Globe for Best Limited Series. The cast has been recognized, too, with Jennifer Coolidge winning a Golden Globe and Emmy for her portrayal of heiress Tanya.
The third season was reportedly in the early stages of production when the writers’ strike forced a shutdown. The upcoming season will be set in Thailand, with a fresh set of vacationers checking into another White Lotus hotel. Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda Lindsey in the first season, will also return for the next installment, according to Variety.
The White Lotus is not the only show on HBO’s programming slate to be affected by the strikes, either. The hotly anticipated It prequel series, Welcome to Derry, will also be pushed back another year.
“Welcome to Derry, we had that scheduled for Halloween of 2024,” Bloys added. “That’s likely 2025.”
We’ll also have to wait until 2025 for a second season of The Last of Us and the third installment of Euphoria.
The writers’ strike ended in September, but SAG-AFTRA has yet to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. As such, the actors’ work stoppage will continue for the foreseeable future.
Fortunately, HBO has a few shows already in the queue for 2024. True Detective, The Jinx, and Curb Your Enthusiasm are all returning to the screens, while The Sympathizer and The Penguin will both debut next year.
