Whoa, This Bike Helmet Folds Down to the Size of a Water Bottle
According to Park & Diamond helmet makers, recent stats show that 97 percent of cyclists who died in accidents were not wearing a helmet. Yikes.
And after one of the co-founder’s sisters was hit by a car while riding a bike, the two engineering students decided to design a bike helmet that people would actually want to use.
Enter the Park & Diamond helmet, which looks and feels like a baseball cap. And the best part? The helmet can fold up when it’s not in use and is designed to fit into a custom water-bottle-size case so that you can easily store it in your bag.
The idea is that the helmet’s compact size, comfort and aesthetics will make riders more likely to wear it.
The only snag? The helmet isn’t available to buy just yet. But the team says that the device has been through rigorous testing and will comply with all U.S. and E.U. cycling safety standards. Intrigued? Pre-order yours now (prices start at $79).
