Why Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Will Be Spending New Year's Eve Separately

Gwen Stefani is flying solo this New Year, but she's not too disappointed about it.

In an interview with Access Hollywood ahead of the season finale of The Voice, conversation turned to her holiday plans in the days following the culmination of the coaches' hard work over the last several months, where the "Rich Girl" singer revealed that she and her hubby, former Voice coach Blake Shelton, won't be kissing at midnight this time around.

While the "Drink on It" singer takes the stage at New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash, Stefani will be doing the same across the country, despite her original plan to be in the audience in Tennessee.

"Well, it's funny because I was going to be at his show, and then Vegas called and wanted me to be in Vegas," she explained, keeping the specific details about her upcoming gig under wraps.

She performed in the city last year, too, hosting a New Year's Eve party at The Venetian, which left her with no desire for a repeat, but since Shelton was going to be working anyway, she decided to accept the offer.

"You kind of sometimes want to … not be the host," she explained. "And then I was like, 'Eh, I'm gonna do it.' If you're gonna be working then I'm gonna be working."

It won't be a long amount of time away, with plans to just "fly in and out," but Stefani has found some excitement. "It's gonna be awesome," she said, adding, "I'm really looking forward to it."
