Why Kim Kardashian Is Trademarking Daughter North's Name

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's eldest child will have her own trademarks before she can even apply for a driver's license.

North West's name isn't just unique, it's about to be a trademarked brand if Kim Kardashian has anything to do with it.

According to reports, Kardashian has filed four trademarks in her daughter’s name: two for “advertising services” and “entertainment,” a third for a toy brand, and a fourth for a skincare line that is slated to include “non-medicated skin preparations, skin moisturizers, skin lotions, skin creams, and skin cleansers.”

For those wondering why West needs a line of trademarks, it's sort of a family tradition. As reality TV stars who've since launched multiple personal brands, the Kardashians attempt to avoid any legal battle they can by preemptively trademarking and copyrighting the names or phrases they're interested in to give them the freedom to use them down the line.

All of North’s siblings, including seven-year-old Saint, five-year-old Chicago, and three-year-old Psalm, have trademarks registered in their names. Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kar-Jenner sisters, reportedly also set up trademarks for her five-year-old daughter, Stormi, before her first birthday.

And at just nine, West is already ahead of the game, yielding an undoubtedly impressive presence on TikTok.

To date, the young reality TV star has already accumulated some 15 million followers and seen incredible success with her videos, which mainly consist of makeup and skincare tutorials, an occasional cameo from mom, and a whole lot of West's humorous personality.

From the looks of it, West indeed is already exhibiting an interest in a career in entertainment, she's even set to make her big screen debut in an upcoming film. So while it makes logical, legal sense that her mom would be setting her up with the licenses, it's wild to think her future would be planned before she can even drive.
