Why Michael Strahan Has Been Absent From 'Good Morning America'
Michael Strahan has been absent from Good Morning America for several days, prompting concern from viewers. While a source tells E! News that "Michael is fine," an ABC spokesperson released a statement saying "Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and concerns."
Michael was last on Good Morning America on October 26, and a source tells Entertainment Tonight that he's expected back on the show next week. "Michael is a huge presence at GMA, and his absence is definitely felt," the insider says. "He's universally adored. Everyone wishes him the best as he deals with personal family matters. The hope is for him to get back to work soon."
His spot is being temporarily filled by Nightline's Juju Chang and World News Tonight's Linsey Davis.
Michael hasn't personally commented on his absence from the show, and his last Instagram post was from October 25, when he promoted his show The $100,000 Pyramid.
During his time away from Good Morning America, he's also been absent from the past two weeks of Fox NFL Sunday. According to the LA Times, commentator Curt Menefee told viewers that he was “dealing with a personal family matter.”
Sending all the best to Michael during this time!
