Why Shania Twain Commits to a 'Liquid Diet' Before Shows
Having worked as a singer for over three decades, Shania Twain has a few important things figured out by now, including exactly what to eat (or not eat) to ensure she has a great show.
The "That Don't Impress Me Much" singer revealed to People that she sticks to a liquid diet on any days that she is scheduled to perform, saying, "I usually don't eat any solids at all on show days until after the show, only liquids.”
As for why, she explained to the publication, "If I eat any solids hours before the show, I’ll have to burp. It’s just a nightmare because you have to sing around the burp and it's distracting in itself."
The singer has likely perfected her pre-concert routine over the years, adding, “I’m not superstitious but I do have rituals before each show. I always start moving to engage my diaphragm."
Twain is currently in the middle of her Queen of Me tour, which started in April of this year and will end in mid-November.
The Canadian singer-songwriter opened up about her concert diet while discussing her newly-announced Las Vegas residency, called Come on Over. The 57-year-old will play 24 shows at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood, starting in May 2024.
This will be Twain's third Las Vegas residency, with the star previously playing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace between 2012 and 2014, as well as the Bakkt Theater (then called Zappos Theater) between December 2019 and late 2022, having to pause the residency for a while due to the pandemic.
The singer told the outlet of her upcoming shows, "I'm going to be playing around with the fashion more in the Come on Over residency because… I’ve really discovered the joy of creating my styling myself."
Regarding her show setlist, Twain simply said, “I don't wanna give everything away,” but you can certainly expect her greatest hits and some songs from her newest album, Queen of Me.
Tickets for Twain's Come on Over residency go on sale on Ticketmaster starting Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. EST, with presales beginning Aug. 16.
