This Woman Accidentally Texted Sarah Michelle Gellar After Getting Engaged: Here’s What Happened
Wrong number, great twist. After recently getting engaged, a woman named Charlyn Willis immediately did what most people do after a proposal: She texted her family. Amid the flurry of excitement, however, Willis overlooked one key detail while attempting to text her sister, and somehow ended up sharing the life update with ‘90s icon Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer standout took to Instagram Stories and Facebook over the weekend to congratulate the bride-to-be, along with a selfie of Willis from the moment. “This is #CharlynWillis,” the mom of two wrote. “She got engaged yesterday, and meant to text her sister, but in all the excitement, got me instead. Her sister didn’t respond, but I did. So please help me say congrats, to Charlyn. (And her fiancé whose name I don’t know) #congratulations.”
Immediately, fans of the Cruel Intentions star reacted to the post. “Can you Imagine accidentally texting Buffy? I hope she is invited to the wedding AND goes!” one user wrote. Another chimed in on a Buffy fan page, commenting: “Omg! How lucky this woman is.”
Gellar’s Facebook post itself has close to 600 comments and 125 shares. Willis, meanwhile, thoroughly appreciated Gellar’s sweet gesture and posted a photo of the star’s Instagram story on her own social media account.
“I guess the best way to announce your engagement is to have a celebrity to do it for you..” she wrote on Facebook. “THANKS Sarah Michelle Gellar… AND YES, I SAID YES to Dee!!!!!”
