Yikes, This Is How Much Each Guest Will Probably Spend on Your Wedding
Peony bouquet? $250. Three-tiered cake? $500. Band? Let’s not even go there. There’s no question that weddings are expensive. But as much as it costs to throw a wedding, it’s not exactly cheap to be a guest at one. (And no, we’re not just talking about the nice check they write you.)
So, how much will your wedding hurt your invitees’ wallets? According to a recent Wedding Wire survey, on average, your guests will spend between—drum roll, please—$665 to $1,065.
And if you’re thinking, well, that’s not terrible considering it includes the generous gift, the shower and the bachelorette party expenses, you’d be wrong. (Sorry.) That number only takes into account how much it costs to attend the main event. Those additional line items add about $230 to the bill.
Concerned about making the price tag worth it for your friends and family? Let the booze flow. You heard us. According to the same survey, wedding guests’ top pet peeves is no open bar. (But, psst, no one said it had to be the top shelf stuff.) We’ll drink to that.
