Young Fan Shares Sweet Surprise With Robin Roberts Ahead of Flight
Good Morning America's Robin Roberts had a sweet encounter with a young fan at the airport.
"Was waiting for my flight when Ava and her mom approached me and said that 11 years ago Ava dressed up as me!," the anchor explained on Instagram yesterday, May 13. She shared a picture she took of the family's phone displaying a photo of young Ava dressed up as Roberts, wearing the same outfit the broadcaster wore at the 2012 Oscars.
In the image, Ava was quoted explaining why she chose to recreate Roberts' look: "She's a survivor and a sportscaster. I like her skin. Sorta peachy brown."
Ava herself commented on Roberts' post, writing, "So glad to have met you! Truly inspiring and lovely :)." Roberts responded, "I'm so glad to have met YOU! Good luck with pole vaulting and cheer…wow!??????."
The teen also shared her experience of meeting Roberts on her Instagram Stories, posting a picture of herself with the anchor. "When the only table available is the one next to Robin Roberts," she wrote. In another one, she posted the same image Roberts shared, captioning it, "I promise if you asked me abt her now I could tell you more than three sentences this time. I keep replaying the moment in my mind cus OMG."
Many fellow famed reporters loved Roberts' interaction with the adorable fan.
ABC's Juju Chang remarked, "She's right! It's peachy brown!! ??," while ESPN's Kelly L. Carter exclaimed, "love this!!"
ABC7's Shirleen Allicot commented, "Too cute ??," and ABC News' Gio Benitez opted for emojis, writing, "????????."
