Amy Adams’ ‘An Object of Beauty’ Adaptation Finds New Writer (EXCLUSIVE)

Amy Adams’ upcoming movie “An Object of Beauty” is back on track with Mike Goldbach on board to rewrite the script for the adaptation of Steve Martin’s novel.

Adams and Maven Pictures’ Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray launched the project in 2012 with Adams producing and starring. The book, published in 2010, follows the adventures of an ambitious entrepreneur who climbs from gallery assistant to gallery owner in New York City over a decade and a half. The story is narrated by her journalist friend.

Variety reported in 2013 that Ned Benson had originally come on to write “Object of Beauty.”

Goldbach wrote and directed “Daydream Nation,” starring Kat Dennings. He’s currently casting his second directorial feature, “The Bluest Year,” which is being produced by Mason Novick.

Styler and Rattray’s producing credits include James McAvoy’s “Filth” and Shia LaBeouf’s “American Honey,” which won the jury prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Styler’s directorial debut, “Freak Show,” stars Alex Lawther, Bette Midler, AnnaSophia Robb, and Laverne Cox. It’s now in post-production.

Goldbach is repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment.
