Celebrity 'Star Wars' Fans Get #ForceForChange Trending on #GivingTuesday
A long time ago (2007), on a basic cable channel far, far away (the defunct G4), Olivia Munn became famous for posing in a Leia-esque bikini. Now, she and several celebrity coconspirators are taking over your Twitter feed with another Star Wars-inspired fashion statement. And it’s all for a good cause.
Munn is one of 10 influencers who designed T-shirts for the “Force 4 Fashion” line, a collection that serves the dual purpose of promoting the upcoming Rogue One while also benefiting the Star Wars charity #ForceForChange — a.k.a. the hashtag that has been trending today across several social media platforms.
Aside from Munn, Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, and Riz Ahmed, and director Gareth Edwards contributed tees, as did actresses Brittany Snow and Camilla Belle, electronic music maestro Steve Aoki, surfing legend Kelly Slater, and stylist-to-the-stars June Ambrose. Their designs feature such slogans as “Go Rogue,” “Join the Rebellion,” and “I Am a Force for Change.” Each of the limited-edition shirts costs $13, $5 of which will be donated to UNICEF Kid Power, which aims to feed malnourished children around the world.
The shirts went on sale this week at Target, and with today being #GivingTuesday — an antidote to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday designed to kickstart the holiday-giving season — the A-list designers and their famous pals, among them Joel McHale, Jack Black, Larry Wilmore, and The View‘s Sarah Haines, have been taking to social media to get the word out and encourage fans to share their stories of creating change and giving back.
