'Doctor Who' showrunner Chris Chibnall wants to bring back Amy Pond and Rory
Chris Chibnall, the producer and writer behind Doctor Who, has said that he wants to bring back some of the series' classic sidekicks.
Chibnall, who worked as a writer under previous showrunners Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffatt, revealed yesterday that he'd be back for a third series of the veteran sci-fi show.

And speaking to the Radio Times, he's said that he's up for plumbing back into the show's catalogue of characters in future episodes.
“To be honest, the canon of Doctor Who is filled with amazing characters,” he said. “I’d love to see Ace back, I’d love to see Tegan back, I’d love to see Amy and Rory… the list goes on.”
Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers star Karen Gillan played Amy Pond in the fifth and seventh series, alongside Matt Smith's Time Lord.
She was coupled on the show with her fiancé Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvill.
Chibnall also said that characters from much further back in Whovian lore continue to inspire him.
“I would really love to bring back Sarah-Jane,” he added. “People working on the show now worked with Lis Sladen and everybody still remembers her so fondly and talks about her a lot. I would love to see her with the 13th Doctor.

“I would love to have brought back Harry Sullivan too, played by the wonderful Ian Marter from Tom Baker’s first season. I would have loved to see Sarah and Harry nowadays to check in with them. It’s a credit to those actors. They are indelible in my life and memories and those of many others. It’s so sad that they’re not with us anymore.”
Chibnall brought back John Barrowman's Captain Jack Harkness this series, in the episode Fugitive of the Judoon.
Jodie Whittaker, Chibnall's Doctor since the 11th series, has also confirmed that she'll be back for series 13 next year.
