Watch Hugh Jackman Shave His Wolverine Chops — For the Last Time?
Hugh Jackman has finished production on the still-untitled Wolverine 3. To celebrate, he’s given himself a fresh-and-clean makeover — and, in the process, possibly revealed another clue about the shrouded-in-secrecy sequel.

In a new Instagram video (viewable below), Jackman can be seen shaving off his bushy muttonchops, which, as he says in both the clip and its accompanying text, will please his wife Deborra-Lee Furness. Most revealing about this brief post, however, is that Jackman’s facial hair seems to be peppered with gray. Along with another recent Instagram photo, this further suggests that the Wolverine he’ll be playing in the third outing for Marvel’s favorite mutant could be based on Old Man Logan, a 2008-2009 comic-book series about an aged Wolverine trying to survive in a horrifying future in which the Earth has been conquered by super-villains.

While director James Mangold hasn’t divulged whether that storyline will be the basis for Wolverine 3, in May, producer Simon Kinberg told Collider that the movie “takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone.” We also know that Patrick Stewart will make an appearance as Professor Xavier, and that it may mark both Jackman and Stewart’s final big-screen Marvel endeavors (though any such proclamations should invariably be taken with a grain of salt). And while there are no firm details about Jackman passing the torch to another Adamantium-clawed hero — like the female X-23, whom Bryan Singer reportedly would like to see on-screen — the post-credits stinger in this past May’s X-Men: Apocalypse did potentially set up Mr. Sinister as Wolverine’s adversary.
