Here's Ian McKellen Singing Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars Songs, Obviously
Taylor Swift has been delighting audiences during this summer’s 1989 by bringing up on stage some of her most famous friends, including Lorde, Lena Dunham, and the US Women’s World Cup-winning soccer team. May we suggest another big name to add to the roster: Oscar-nominated actor Sir Ian McKellen.
The 76-year-old actor, who stars in the upcoming drama Mr. Holmes, stopped by Yahoo in New York on Tuesday and really showed off his range: Using the deep, dignified voice that has earned him Tony Awards and Oscar nominations, McKellen recited some of the lyrics to Swift’s smash hit song “Bad Blood,” turning the semi-vicious song into a rhythmic lecture from a wise elder statesman.
McKellen also gave us a verse from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” somehow making the hit song even more danceable.
Mr. Holmes, in which McKellen stars as a retired Sherlock Holmes called back into duty, hits theaters on Friday. Watch a trailer for the film below:
