'Lando' First Look: Sneak Peek at Marvel's New 'Star Wars' Spinoff

He may be one of the few key original-trilogy Star Wars players not back for The Force Awakens, but that’s not stopping Lando Calrissian from having a formidable second act. The smooth-talking, back-stabbing space scoundrel, immortalized onscreen by Billy Dee Williams, first popped up in a memorable cameo in last year’s The Lego Movie. His younger rakish self has a recurring role on the hit cartoon series Star Wars Rebels. And soon, we’ll learn even more about Mr. Calrissian’s formative years in Marvel’s upcoming comic book Lando.

The publisher just released a sneak peek at the first issue, coming out in July. Set before he took over stewardship of Cloud City, sold out Han Solo, and then ultimately redeemed himself as a hero of the Rebellion, the first issue finds Lando and his faithful android sidekick Lobot on a mission to heist “one of the galaxy’s most valuable object.”
Here is a look at the inside of Lando No. 1 along with several alternate covers that will be available in comic shops and digitally next month.

With all this newfound Lando love, it may be only a matter of time before he’s back on the big screen in the next Star Wars sequel.
