Akshay and Kailash Kher disappoint IFFI inaugural audience

That's how Goan newspapers described Akshay Kumar's performance as the Chief Guest of IFFI 2012 and Kailash Kher's lip-syncing act in the name of live singing. They were expecting Akshay to deliver a substantial speech.

The only interesting part of his speech was that as a child he sacrificed food for films and now since he has plenty of food, he makes it a point to have a family day out on Saturdays to watch films. He hardly said anything about the hundred years of cinema and chose to speak about Balasaheb Thackeray instead. He was obviously ill prepared for the role. He also did not take his dark sunglasses off all through the inaugural session and fumbled during his speech while reading it from the teleprompter.

The local newspapers also described the inaugural ceremony as low on glamour and action and complained about traffic congestions because of the poor planning by Goa's traffic police. Even Saroj Khan directed dance act was criticized for being like any other dance show.
