Dave Grohl Apparently Breaks Leg During Concert, Keeps Rocking
Dave Grohl has once again proven that he is the hardest-working man in rock ‘n’ roll. The Foo Fighters frontman reportedly jumped offstage and injured his leg Friday, during a performance of “Monkey Wrench” in Gothenburg, Sweden. But the mishap barely threw a wrench in the Foos’ works; ever the trooper, Grohl still managed to finish the band’s entire set.
The fan-shot video below shows Grohl at the time of the injury. (Video contains profanity.)
“I think I just broke my leg. I think I really broke my leg!” Grohl told the sympathetic crowd at Ullevi Stadium while lying on the ground for a few minutes. “You have my promise, right now, that we’re gonna come back and finish this show! Right now, I’m gonna go to the hospital, and I’m gonna fix my leg. But then I’m gonna come back, and we’re gonna play for you again! I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry!”
While Grohl received medical attention backstage, his fellow Foo Fighters entertained the audience with a set of cover tunes sung by Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins. Grohl returned about 15 minutes later and played the rest of the concert, seated in a chair, with his wrapped leg propped up and a medic standing by.
“I may not be able to walk or run, but I can still play guitar and scream,” Grohl declared.
A representative for the Foo Fighters declined to comment on the seriousness of Grohl’s injury, but the Foo Fighters later tweeted a photo of an X-ray that looks like a nasty break.
Thank you Gothenburg. That was amazing. pic.twitter.com/BXvuxIfVEv
