Todrick Hall’s Pentatonix Parody is Pitch-Perfect
As the casts of Family Guy and The Simpsons meeting up in Springfield or The Monkees’ Davy Jones showing up at Marcia Brady’s front door have proven, good things can happen when TV shows collide. But perhaps the most awesome show-smash yet is the one between the American Idol and Sing-Off fandoms, which come together in the latest amazing offering by Todrick Hall.
In “Pentatodrix,” Hall — a robbed Season 9 Idol hopeful-turned-viral video sensation with his own upcoming MTV show — brilliantly spoofs Season 3 Sing-Off winners-turned-viral video sensations Penatonix. And diehard PTX fans will appreciate Hall’s attention to exaggerated detail.
Scott Hoying’s towering height, Mitch Grassi’s sassy simpering and primping, Kirstie Maldonado’s slanted-mouth smirk and sidekick dog Olaf, Avi Kaplan’s off-the-scales baritone, Kevin Olusola’s body-rocking beatboxing… it’s all here in this done-with-love send-up.
Plus, Hall sings all five a cappella voices! This parody is pretty much pitch-perfect.
