11-year-old girl critical after being rescued from burning Canton home

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — An 11-year-old girl is in critical condition after being rescued from a burning home on Friday evening.

A passerby reported seeing flames coming from the two-story home in the 900 block of 3rd Street Northwest, according to a news release.

11-year-old boy pulled from Lake Erie identified

Canton firefighters arrived just before 8 p.m. and rescued an 11-year-old girl from a second-floor window. She was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, according to the release.

One firefighter suffered minor burns trying to reach the child and was treated at the scene, according to the release.

Beach hazard warning issued in parts of NE Ohio

The total loss is estimated at $33,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
