15-year-old girl killed after golf cart struck by vehicle in wrong lane in Rock Hill: PD
ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 15-year-old girl is dead after she and five others in a golf cart were struck by a driver who was traveling in the wrong lane in a residential community Thursday night, police said.
According to Rock Hill Police, officers responded to 911 calls regarding the accident involving a golf cart and a Honda CRV at 10:05 p.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of Laurel Creek Drive.
Officers were told there were six riders on the golf cart which flipped over upon impact. One of the riders, a 15-year-old girl, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Three other riders of the golf cart were taken to Piedmont Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, Rock Hill Police said.
Authorities said they believe the golf cart was traveling north on Laurel Creek Drive when the Honda, which was traveling south in the wrong lane, collided with the golf cart.
Rock Hill Police said the Honda remained at the scene. Rock Hill Police previously stated the teen’s age was 16, before updating the correct age to 15.
There is no mention of any charges at this time. This remains an active investigation.
