(This story was updated to add new information.)
Former President Donald Trump will hold his final 2024 campaign event on Monday night in Grand Rapids, in what has become a tradition, the campaign announced Friday.
Trump finished his successful 2016 campaign in Grand Rapids and also held his final campaign event there in 2020, when he lost the election to President Joe Biden.
Trump is scheduled to speak at 10:30 p.m. Monday at a rally at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids in what is expected to be his final campaign event of 2024, the Trump campaign said in a Friday news release.
Michigan is a key battleground state and Kent County, where Grand Rapids is the county seat, is a key swing state within Michigan. A Free Press poll published Friday showed Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, with a 3-percentage point lead over Trump in Michigan. National polls also show an extremely close race.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for Monday's Trump event in Grand Rapids. Those who want to attend can register on the Trump campaign website.
Trump is campaigning in Warren on Friday. Haris plans to return to Michigan on Sunday.
