49ers cut ties with influencer who admitted to sending inappropriate messages to minor

(KRON) — The San Francisco 49ers dropped ties with a controversial streamer after finding out that he sent inappropriate messages to a minor in 2017, KRON4 has confirmed.

Dr Disrespect, a popular social media influencer and streamer with close ties to the 49ers, admitted to inappropriately messaging a minor on Twitch, a social media platform he streamed on before being permanently banned in 2020.

On Tuesday, the streamer took to X to admit that inappropriately messaging a minor in 2017 caused his ban.

Following an internal investigation with Twitch and confirmation of the messages through Bloomberg, Midnight Society, the streamer’s main sponsor and business partner, dropped Dr Disrespect as the face of their brand on Monday.

“We became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founders, Guy Beahm, aka Dr Disrespect,” Midnight Society continued, “for this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.”

After the Midnight Society announcement, Dr Direspect took to his platform on X to address the issue. The streamer said he believes these messages were “casual” conversations that “sometimes leaned too much of being inappropriate, but nothing more,” the streamer said, claiming “no crimes were committed.”

Dr Disrespect also admitted that he never should have messaged the minor from a “moral standpoint… That’s on me as an adult, a husband, and a father,” the streamer said, claiming he’s “not perfect.”

Aside from his main sponsor dropping him, companies with close ties to Dr Disrespect have since disassociated themselves from the streamer and his controversial ties. On Tuesday, a 49ers spokesperson told KRON4: “We take these developments seriously and will not be working with [Dr Disrespect] going forward.”

Since his apology on Tuesday, Dr Direspect said he will be taking an “extended vacation” with his family, but he plans to continue creating content moving forward.
