Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood's new BBC comedy Daddy Issues has just released its trailer, alongside confirmation of its release date.

The trailer lays out the premise: Aimee Lou's character Gemma gets pregnant, but since the father isn't around, she turns to her own dad, Malcolm, for support. The problem is, he's not exactly got his life together.

For Malcom actor David Morrissey, who's perhaps best known in the TV world playing pre-Negan big bad The Governor in early seasons of The Walking Dead, he gets to lean into his comedic side with this character.

The show's official synopsis further explains that Gemma found herself pregnant after a one night stand.

As for Malcolm, he recently divorced from Gemma's mum, who took all of their money, and he's been living with fellow divorcée Derek. That is until Gemma asks him to move in with her after her flatmate moves out.

Luckily, we don't have to wait that long to see the show. It'll be available on BBC iPlayer from Thursday, August 15, and will also premiere on BBC Three the same day. It'll then air on BBC One just a day later, on Friday, August 16.

It's been quite a busy year so far for Aimee Lou.

Her Channel 4 drama Alice & Jack released a few months back, as did the film Seize Them!. She's also been announced for the new movie Sweet Dreams and another BBC series called Film Club, which she'll be writing as well as starring in.

Daddy Issues will air on BBC One and stream via BBC iPlayer.
