New Amazon facility coming to Round Rock

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — The Round Rock City Council approved a path forward for a 149-acre Amazon site paused in the spring of 2022.

At a meeting January 11, Round Rock planning and zoning staff and Amazon representatives gave their presentations about the project to members of the city council.

The Amazon representative that addressed the council said the facility is poised to serve as a data center or warehouse and distribution facility.

The council unanimously approved the municipal services agreement for the site and annexed it within city limits. The land, near the intersection of CR 172 and McNeil Road, was originally in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Round Rock, a bordering but unincorporated part of the city.

The facility is expected to create 150-200 jobs where employees will sort and prepare package to go out to customers and is expected to be complete sometime in 2025, with construction starting later this year.
