SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Angelo State University’s public phase of the “Leading the Charge” capital campaign kicked off in August with the goal of raising $128 million throughout the university’s centennial celebration.

A quiet phase for the capital campaign began in 2021 and has raised over $73 million, according to a press release from ASU.

“Our Leading the Charge capital campaign is an initiative that is reflective of the evolutionary journey we are on at Angelo State to provide unparalleled opportunities for not only students, faculty, and staff, but our community as well,” said ASU President Ronnie Hawkins. “Being an innovative leader is how we want the university to be known, and this initiative inspires us to ‘Lead the Charge’ toward a brighter future. Having the support of our alumni, community partners, and new donors is crucial to making this campaign a reality.”

The campaign is centered around the four key pillars that encapsulate Angelo State’s mission and vision for the future:

  • Rams on the Rise – Guiding Student Success with Expanded Resources and Endowments

  • Shepherding Success – Creating an Environment for Enhanced Learning Experience

  • Scaling New Heights – Advancing Angelo State’s Position as a Center for Research and Innovation

  • Stronger Together – Engaging with Community Partners for Mutual Benefit

Funding priorities for the capital campaign include:

  • Endowed scholarship programs

  • Additional paid internship programs

  • New Research and Innovation Hub facility

  • Expanding and enhancing student services

  • Laboratory upgrades, new equipment and technology

  • Support for Distinguished Lectureships

  • Endowed chairs and professorships

  • Angelo State Athletics Endowment

“Our vision is to raise a new generation of Rams by investing in cutting-edge learning experiences,” said Jamie Mayer, vice president for external affairs. “This will strengthen our position as a premier destination for higher education. From enhancing our research capabilities to expanding our athletics facilities, our transformative vision will serve not just our region, but far beyond. Our legacy is deeply intertwined with the San Angelo and West Texas community. Together, we will accelerate progress and achieve academic and athletic excellence for Angelo State.”
