ASU awarded ‘Best College’ recognition for 16th year by Princeton Review

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Angelo State University has been recognized by the Princeton Review as “one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education” for the 16th year in a row, according to the college.

The Princeton Review’s recognition comes through the 2025 edition of its “The Best 390 Colleges” annual college guide. Published by Penguin Random House, the guide is considered the Princeton Review’s flagship publication and includes profiles of the colleges with rating scores that are based on surveys of over 168,000 students nationally.

“Continued recognition by The Princeton Review is particularly significant because it is based on how our students feel about their Angelo State experience,” ASU President Ronnie Hawkins Jr. said. “Our students are the reason we are here. To receive such incredibly positive feedback from them year after year means that we are succeeding in our mission to provide a top-quality education, as well as our vision for their impactful future. That’s something for which the entire Ram Family can be proud.”

The university stated that such a recognition is only afforded to approximately 15% of the United States’ over 2,600 four-year colleges. ASU is one of 14 Texas institutions and one of only six Texas public universities that have made it onto the 2025 college guide.

“The team at Angelo State reaches new heights with each step it takes, and the entire Texas Tech University System is immensely proud of all their achievements,” TTU System Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. said. “Being recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the best institutions in the country for 16 consecutive years is no small feat. It underscores what we at the TTU System have always known: the ASU family – beginning with President Hawkins and including every employee and student – has cultivated and maintained a positive and thriving campus community, and they will continue to accomplish tremendous things for countless generations to come.”

The survey used by The Princeton Review to grade colleges across the nation for the annual guide consists of 89 questions, with topics ranging from assessments of academics and professors to campus culture and student life. In addition to being listed as one of the 390 best colleges, ASU’s top rankings for the 2025 guide include the following:

  • No. 10 – Happiest Students

  • No. 10 – Lots of Race/Class Interaction

  • No. 14 – Their Students Love These Colleges

  • No. 14 – Most Active Student Government

  • No. 15 – Best Quality of Life

“We salute Angelo State University for its outstanding academics and many other impressive offerings. We recommend it as an ideal choice for students searching for their ‘best-fit’ college,” Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief and lead author of “The Best 390 Colleges,” said.
