Autopsy of Sonya Massey to be released

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The autopsy of Sonya Massey will be released this week.

Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser is scheduled to release the autopsy report of the Springfield woman who was shot in the head by law enforcement when two deputies responded to her 911 call. The body camera footage of the shooting was released Monday.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed Monday that Massey died with a gunshot to the head. Allmon said the manner of death was a homicide. Former deputy for Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office Sean Grayson has been charged with first-degree murder for shooting Massey; he has pled not guilty.

Attorney Ben Crump has scheduled to speak with media Friday morning after the autopsy results are unveiled.

Massey’s family recently launched a GoFundMe to help with financial support for counseling and household support.
