Ayotte urges voters to dismiss the 'B.S. attacks' against her

Aug. 6—NASHUA — In her third campaign ad, Republican candidate for governor Kelly Ayotte of Nashua lashed out at what she called "B.S. political attacks" against her.

In the new, 30-second commercial, the former U.S. senator again speaks directly to camera seeking to rebut criticism of her record.

"The B.S. political attacks can take a hike because here in New Hampshire, we're moving in the right direction," Ayotte said.

"As governor, I'll keep us on the Sununu path."

On Sept. 10, Republican primary voters will pick from former Senate President Chuck Morse of Salem or Ayotte as GOP nominee for governor to replace Gov. Chris Sununu.

Sununu decided not to seek an unprecedented fifth two-year term this fall.

Ayotte highlighted three top issues in the new ad.

"I'll tackle the housing crisis and ban sanctuary cities," Ayotte said.

"We'll protect New Hampshire communities with law and order, and on my watch, there will be no new taxes — period."

Ayotte campaign spokesman John Corbett said the ad is further response to the Democratic Governors Association ad and to comments from her two main Democratic rivals, who have been similarly critical of Ayotte's past record on abortion rights while in the Senate.

"While Joyce Craig and Cinde Warmington hide behind their national Democrat allies, Kelly is on the trail every day showing she's the clear choice to keep New Hampshire moving in the right direction," Corbett said.

The DGA said Ayotte and the leading Republicans running for governor in North Carolina and Washington state all ran similar ads defending their views.

"Mark Robinson, Kelly Ayotte, and Dave Reichert all know that their harmful and unpopular records of trying to ban abortion are too extreme for voters," DGA Communications Director Sam Newton said in a statement. "The only thing these desperate ads do is confirm that GOP candidates are in deep trouble because voters aren't buying their lies and we're not going to let them get away with it."
