Blue Ivy Made Beyoncé’s Mom Get Re-Married

Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles got married on a yacht in California earlier this month—and her granddaughter Blue Ivy, the wisest, pushiest, most articulate three-year-old the world has ever known, was entirely to blame. Or thank. Whichever!

Knowles, 61, revealed to People (via E!) that she and her now-husband, music video director Richard Lawson, 68, were vacationing with Bey and fam last September, when li’l Blue suddenly got pushy.

“We went on a boat with Beyoncé and Jay Z and when we came out one night dressed to go to dinner, Blue said, ‘Oh, y'all look beautiful. When are y'all getting married?‘” she told the mag. (That’s SO Blue Ivy: Always giving out orders disguised as compliments. Typical.) “Richard said, 'Oh, Blue, soon. Do you approve?’"

Knowles didn’t share exactly how the kid responded, but we can only assume the reaction was positive, because you just KNOW that Blue always gets exactly what she wants. Naturally, she served as the ceremony’s flower girl (Solange’s son, Julez, was the ring bearer).

Ms. Tina divorced her daughters’ dad Matthew Knowles in 2011, after it was revealed that he had had extramarital affairs and fathered a baby out of wedlock. On getting a second chance at love, she told People, “There was a time when I doubted I would find love again. But I was determined to be happy and God sent somebody into my life. You can find love at any age. You just have to go for it.”

It doesn’t hurt to have an opinionated toddler around, either.
