Brown County Democrats launch canvassing efforts, as GOP says ‘Harris offers familiar failed policies’

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – One hundred days out from the November election, Wisconsin Democrats have launched a statewide mobilization blitz to try to energize voters ahead of the election.

“A couple of weeks ago, Democrats were arguing about who should be the candidate (for president) and whether there is a path forward,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Ben Wikler. “Now Democrats all see the path and the path is the opportunity and freedom message that Vice President Harris is bringing to Wisconsin and across the country.”

Wikler has been traveling around the state to attend some of these mobilization kickoffs. On Saturday, he was at the Democratic Party of Brown County building to help kick things off there.

He talked to people there about the stakes of this election and the importance of door-knocking and talking with voters. He also talked about the importance of voting up and down the ticket, from the President to local representatives.

“We want to make sure that people know how to vote, the fact that you can same day register we’ll be knocking on tens of thousands of doors across the state of Wisconsin this weekend,” he told Local 5 News. “I’m here to fire up volunteers and remind folks about the stakes of the election.”

In a statement, Wisconsin GOP Chair Brian Schimming said “The Democrat rebranding tour has nothing to offer voters but familiar names and the same failed policies of the last four years. Wisconsinites are fed up with the higher costs and open borders of the Biden-Harris Administration and ready to embrace a new era of Republican leadership.”

“Who is willing to take on the special interests that drive prices up? Kamala Harris has a record as Attorney General of going after price gougers,” said Wikler when asked if inflation and the economy can be a winning issue for Democrats during this election. “Her work as Vice President with President Biden and Tammy Baldwin to bring down the cost of prescription drugs even though the drug lobby is one of the most powerful in Washington. You see the willingness of Kamala Harris to take on special interests.”
