CNN Lands Kamala Harris and Tim Walz Joint Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will have their first joint interview on CNN since becoming the Democratic presidential and vice presidential nominees last week.

The pair will sit down exclusively with CNN anchor and chief political correspondent Dana Bash in Georgia, a crucial battleground state in the November election. The interview also marks Harris’ first network sit-down interview since replacing Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket after he stepped down last month. It’s also a first for Walz since being announced as Harris’ running mate on Aug. 6.

The special, titled The First Interview: Harris & Walz a CNN Exclusive, will air Thursday, Aug. 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT across CNN’s platforms.

Harris and Walz have been busy on the campaign trail, as well as headlining an energized 2024 Democratic National Convention last week, which averaged 21.8 million viewers in primetime. The star-studded convention saw state delegates, notable politicians, celebrities and more fill Chicago’s United Center arena throughout the four-day event.

It’s only been a little more than five weeks since Harris officially launched her campaign for the White House after Biden withdrew from the election following calls for him to step down due to his disastrous debate with Donald Trump in June. Biden then proceeded to endorse Harris to take his place at the top of the ticket.

Since then, Harris has not done any extensive interviews with any major media outlets; however, she said earlier in August that she planned to do a sit-down interview by the end of the month.
