Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars' reality show gets disappointing update
Drama Queens, the reality show starring various stars from the world of soaps, has been cancelled after just one season.
The ITV show, which premiered in April, followed the lives of several famous faces from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and EastEnders, including Lucy Fallon, Jamelia, Ellie Leach, Laura Norton, Jorgie Porter, Roxy Shahidi, Rita Simons, Brooke Vincent and Amy Walsh.
The show is no more, however, with The Sun reporting that bosses at ITV have decided to axe the show following disappointing viewing figures, with production costs ballooning after its various stars were hard to pin down due to filming for their respective soaps.

“There are no current plans for a second series of Drama Queens but the first series is available for viewers to enjoy on ITVX, and we wouldn’t rule out revisiting the show in the future,” said a spokesperson for ITV.
Simons, who had played Roxy Mitchell on EastEnders before joining Hollyoaks as Marie Fielding, spoke about her partying days from her early career ahead of her time on Drama Queens, saying they were very much a thing of the past.
“I think it’s going to surprise people to see another side to me,” she said. “I’m still associated with playing Roxy and they get confused and think I’m her and I’m not. Marie is totally different from Roxy, and I’m actually different from both characters.

“So now people will get a chance to see the real me. In the old days I was the ultimate party girl. I loved the Ibiza era but I’ve grown up. It’s nice to show a side people don’t expect. People ask: ‘Been to any good parties?’ I’m like: ‘No... I’m in bed by 8pm.’
“It was access all areas, I literally let them film me when I was in the loo! You’re not going to see me sobbing – I did that when I left London,” she added about the filming process for the reality show.
Drama Queens is streaming on ITVX.
