Costco Just Recalled a Popular Frozen Item—Here's What You Need to Know
Nobody wants to hear that a food item in their possession is subject to a recall. While it is nice to know that brands are actively testing their products for potential contamination from outside sources, there's nothing worse than having to toss out or return a product you may have already been eating.
Recalls happen across the globe every year. This month, Red’s All Natural is joining the ranks of BrucePac and Hammond’s Candies due to contamination of one or more of their products. In a statement released by Red’s All Natural's Director of Quality Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance, Brent Heldt, Costco members were notified that their purchased packages of Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos may be contaminated with listeria. The identified packages feature item #1850156 and were sold between October 1 and October 10, 2024.

In the company's announcement, Heldt urges an abundance of caution, stating that Red’s has initiated a voluntary recall on an unknown number of packages of the grilled chicken mini burritos. As of now, there is not much information provided on the source of the contamination, other than it coming from “one of” the brand's suppliers. Best By dates on the affected products include 3/27/26, 4/01/26, 4/02/26 and 4/07/26.
Listeria is a bacteria that acts as a parasite in mammals. It is an extremely dangerous bacteria that can lead to such symptoms as fever, muscle aches and tiredness. In extreme cases, those infected can experience headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance or seizures. Pregnant individuals can be subject to pregnancy loss or premature birth if not identified and treated properly.
