Dennis Quaid to attend red carpet premiere of ‘Reagan’ biopic in Dixon
DIXON, Ill. (WTVO) — Actor Dennis Quaid will attend a red carpet premiere in Dixon of his new movie, “Reagan,” a biopic of Ronald Reagan, America’s 40th president.
Reagan grew up in Dixon, and his boyhood home, at 810 S. Henepin Avenue) has been preserved as a tourist attraction.
Quaid will participate in an interview ahead of the screening of the new movie, on Thursday, August 22nd at the Dixon Historic Theatre, at 114 S Galena Avenue, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
According to a press release, “Reagan” is “Narrated by Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose life becomes intertwined with President Reagan’s when Reagan first catches the Soviets’ attention as an actor in Hollywood, the film offers a unique and captivating perspective on one of America’s greatest leaders. Dennis Quaid delivers a portrayal of Ronald Reagan that transcends the boundaries of a traditional biopic, delving into the enduring impact of his journey, sustained by the steadfast and loving support of Nancy Reagan.”

President Reagan enjoyed a Hollywood career prior to his election to public office. In 1942, he premiered his film “International Squadron” at the Dixon Theatre.
The Young America’s Foundation also plans to host a procession through Dixon featuring many of the institutions that shaped the former president, including the Boyhood Home, Dixon High School, Dixon YMCA, and Eureka College.
“Reagan” opens nationwide on August 30th.
