Department of Natural Resources: Multiple Milwaukee facilities temporarily closing due to RNC, State Fair

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced on Thursday that multiple facilities in the Milwaukee area will partially or fully close over the next two months.

The closings are due to both the arrival of the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, as well as the Wisconsin State Fair.

Over 100 new food and drink options available, including never-before-tasted flavors of cream puffs at the Wisconsin State Fair

The closures are to ensure security and safety operations are there during the events.

The following locations are the closings listed via release:

  • DNR Southeaster Regional Headquarters and Milwaukee Service Center

    • July 6-21

  • Lakeshore State Park

    • July 13-14

    • Havenwoods Nature Center is extending hours and additional events during this time

      • Sunday, July 14: 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m.

      • Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19: 8:30 a.m.–8 p.m.

      • Saturday, July 20: 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

      • Sunday, July 21: 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m.

  • Hank Aaron State Trail between 76th St. and 89th St.
