‘Doing bear things’: Bear caught on camera wandering through Highlands Ranch

DENVER (KDVR) — A bear was seen wandering around a Highlands Ranch neighborhood on Monday.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a caller reported a “bear wandering around doing bear things” just after noon.

Why do bears in Colorado like trash?

The bear was seen entering garages, climbing over fences and going through trash cans.

“Deputies did their best, from a distance, to keep an eye on the bear and keep curious residents away,” the sheriff’s office said in a post on X.

Once wildlife officers with Colorado Parks and Wildlife arrived on the scene, the bear was tranquilized after it climbed a tree and was moved to a better habitat.
