Donald Trump pushing a gangster agenda. His threats shouldn't be taken lightly.
Trump's words tantamount to treason
Why do I oppose former President Trump? Trump spouts lies and people believe him. Some of those people then threaten the very lives of ordinary citizens who do their jobs as honestly and faithfully as they can.
Government by the people is fundamental to our system of government.
As a candidate in 2015, Trump claimed that our elections were rigged. He won that election. As President of the United States, he continued his claim. As ordinary citizens, we can debate whether elections are rigged, but for president of the United States to claim that is tantamount to treason.
Be afraid. An amoral, self-dealing, lying, cheating hypocrite is running for president.
Trump’s claim that the election was stolen from him is an obvious lie. Despite numerous court challenges and some “forensic” audits, no evidence of significant fraud was found.
Later testimony revealed that Trump knew he had lost, but he continues to this day to claim the steal.
He never advocates threatening people’s lives, but his repeated claims that judges who have ruled against him are biased have resulted in death threats. People who have been subpoenaed to testify in trials against him also have been threatened.
Threatening to harm or kill people is gangster stuff.
It must end, but it will continue as long as Trump continues his false claims.

Elections are not a game
Our democracy is under attack. Its survival requires a newsroom reset.
The news media needs to stand up for America. Despite being the only American president to attempt a coup, Donald Trump is again running for office in 2024, while publicly suggesting he would rule as a dictator.
His anti-democratic behavior earns him endorsements from most of the elected officials in his party.
Reporting facts, uplifting elections, and condemning violence is not partisan.
In fact, a pro-democracy bias is crucial for the survival of our nation. That’s why it’s essential that the media’s election coverage switch its focus from polls and drama to policies, past-governance, and behavior.
Elections should be covered like they matter more than sports.
That means prioritizing substantive coverage of the issues that matter to voters' lives; making headlines accurate and informative, not clickbait; no longer making predictions and pushing polls at the expense of issues coverage; celebrating and uplift election workers, voters, and the election process; making moral judgment when covering obvious lies and bigotry; holding politicians to account for their positions, statements, and behavior, as well as those of their party’s leader.
This doesn’t cover all the media should do but it’s a good start.

Where is the Trump support?
Re "Low on conservatives" July 4: I am responding to Jeffrey Kramer's letter.
The Dispatch is a mouthpiece for Democrat propaganda on all things Trump, MAGA extremism and the "lawfare" waged on the 45th president.
Much of what is printed in the mainstream media (including The Dispatch, New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, CBS ABC and NBC) is Democratic talking points created by their campaign to vilify Trump, much of it false and an attempt to jail him so he cannot be the Republican nominee.
Where are the articles and opinions from readers who favor Trump?
Why not let the voters decide in November on the next president? I
t seems Biden has no platform to run on because his last three and a half years have brought division, disappointment, chaos, crime, national security concerns, foreign policy failures, rampant inflation, a lack of respect for American institutions and authority and lawlessness.
So many Americans are fed up with the condition of our country and yet few voices appear on the opinion page or even in the news articles appearing on other pages of The Dispatch.
Why is The Dispatch so selective in printing all opinions?
