Donate blood: Solvita looking for all blood types

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Solvita is asking the community for blood donations.

According to Solvita, type O positive blood is in a “critical shortage” at the location. All other blood types are currently labeled by the organization as being in low supply.

“Solvita is under an emergency alert due to the high usage and daily collections that fall short of the 350 donors per day minimum needed to supply of all partner hospitals,” said Tracy Morgan, vice president for donor relations at Solvita. “We are making a personal plea to all eligible donors, lapsed donors, and first-time donors to visit the Solvita Dayton Center or a mobile blood drive as soon as possible.”

As an initiative to encourage those to donate, all donors will receive either a $10 Kroger gift card or $10 e-gift card.
