Editor’s Picks: American Heritage
Growing up in London I would — and still do — fetishize about all things American. Ask any of my friends from the States and they will tell you how I like to grill them about their high school years (we called it “senior school”), prom (never had it!), and hitting the mall (we have High Street). To me, blue jeans, Converse sneakers, and varsity jackets have always been as exotic as croc Birkin bags and ostrich Prada shoes! So when I went to Seattle recently to see the guys at Filson, my obsession went into overdrive. I was inspired by the styles that have not changed for decades, how these businesses are giving back to the community, and the notion of building a brand that really cares about its staff as well as its customers. Fast fashion retailers are an easy fix, and sure it cost a little extra to buy American, but just think about the care that went into creating these products and you will realize it’s worth it.
