Evansville Police release new details following Bedford Avenue arrests

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Evansville Police have released the names and charges for two people who were arrested following an incident in the 1600 block of south Bedford Avenue in Evansville on Sunday.

According to an affidavit, officers were dispatched to reports of a person with a gun at the address. Police say a caller told dispatch that a man came out of his house with a shotgun after arguing with a group of people and raised the gun.

Police surrounded the home and gave commands to have those inside come out. Authorities say one of the people that exited the home, Charles Hardin, 59, was identified as the suspect and detained. An affidavit says Hardin refused to answer questions and would not listen to his Miranda Rights. He also reportedly shouted at officers and attempted to pull away from officers while they were trying to place him inside a squad car.

Officers were told about a woman who was still inside of the home, later identified as Bresha Williams, 32. After obtaining a search warrant, police say they located Williams inside the home “pretending to sleep under blankets”.

Williams was charged with obstruction of justice and a petition to revoke probation for battery against a child.

They are both being held without bond.
