Farmers’ Almanac predicts ‘downright frigid’ fall with ‘lots of fall flakes’
DENVER (KDVR) — Summer in Colorado has been brutal, with several record-breaking hot days and the third-most number of 100-degree days ever in Denver.
However, relief could be on the way, if Farmers’ Almanac is right in its prediction: According to the 206-year-old outlet, Colorado will have a frigid and wet fall in 2024.

Depending on which school of thought you land in, fall will start either Sept. 1 or Sept 22. The former is based on meteorological seasons while the latter is based on astronomical seasons.
Frigid and wet fall?
According to Farmers’ Almanac, fall in the North Central region, which includes Colorado, “may be downright frigid, with lots of fall flakes and rain.”
Halloween may be a bit gusty in the state, according to the prediction. The outlet also predicts that Nov. 8-11 could see an early-season, heavy snowfall.
Nationwide, Farmers’ Almanac is predicting a cool and crisp fall.
Why you may want to temper expectations
The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center has a slightly different outlook for fall in Colorado: warmer and drier than usual.
The center’s September, October and November outlook, published July 18, predicts a 40% to 50% chance of above-average temperatures in the Front Range and a 50% to 60% chance in the western part of the state.
